According to the Global Power City Index 2024 (GPCI), Dubai has been ranked 1st  in the Middle East and 8th Globally for the second consecutive year.

The report, which is published annually by the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan, emphasizes Dubai’s position as a pioneer in innovation, economic vibrancy, and international connectedness.

With this achievement, Dubai becomes the only Middle Eastern city to rank in the top 10, solidifying its standing as a significant international center for talent, business, and investment.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, attributed this achievement to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

“Dubai continues to redefine what is possible, combining innovation, sustainability, and a focus on nurturing talent,” said Sheikh Hamdan. “The city has created one of the world’s best environments for businesses to thrive, creative ideas to take shape, and individuals to realise their aspirations while enjoying an exceptional quality of life. This achievement reflects not only visionary leadership but also the collective contributions of countless individuals who share a commitment to excellence.”

The Crown Prince highlighted the main factors contributing to Dubai’s prosperity, such as its top-notch infrastructure, which keeps drawing top talent and international investment. He emphasized the city’s modern and adaptable legal system, which is intended to encourage creativity and accommodate changing international trends.

Additionally, he emphasized the value of Dubai’s robust public-private sector alliances, which have produced a vibrant environment for cooperation and expansion.

“Dubai’s high ranking on global indices shows that we are not just keeping pace with the world, we are setting new benchmarks for excellence,” he added.

Sheikh Hamdan reaffirmed Dubai’s dedication to sustainable growth, saying,“We remain steadfast in our efforts to consolidate Dubai’s global status as a city of the future. By embracing strategic innovation and maintaining a strong commitment to excellence, we are creating new opportunities across industries.”

With a strong emphasis on enhancing living standards and creating commercial possibilities, Dubai continues to draw top talent, companies, and investors from around the globe. Dubai, which is among the cities with the greatest rates of growth in the index, is also continuously setting new standards for resilience, connectivity, and urban innovation.

The largest cities of the globe are ranked and evaluated by the Global Power City Index (GPCI) based on their “magnetism,” or their overall ability to draw in businesses, capital, and people from all over the world. Economic, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility are the six functions that are measured in order to provide a multidimensional rating.
